Drool is Cool!

We've been changing Olivia's clothes much more than usual lately--not because of diaper issues...but drool! I think it's time to get out those bibs!

(Question for our Moms: When did we start teething?)

We suspect that our little one is teething already because:
1. Olivia drools now...constantly!
2. She has had a low grade temp for a few days.
3. She's putting everything in her mouth and gnawing.
She's using her tongue as a chew toy too.
4. Her little gums are showing signs of teeth coming in (the two bottom middle incisors)
5. There's a little congestion too.

(We thought it was a little early for teething but apparently signs can begin at 4 months and earlier in "late" babies. Olive was a week late. What can I say? She's an over-achiever. : )

Can you see all that drool on her chin?

Three Months

It was 3 months ago that our little girl was born. Before Olivia, I would have measured time 3 months as a quarter of classes at university or perhaps as a season passed, but now I look at this little girl and see all that she is discovering; her hands, her toes, her tongue, lights!, people, laughs, squeals, smells, books, music, gurgling, Boone, rolling over (almost), and the list goes on and on. David and I just love to see how she grows each day. All of you were right, it happens so fast!

Girls Night In

Dad was working on his papers and reading.
Mommy and Olivia made brownies!

You really like being in the carrier when there's something going on for you to look at...like some brownie-making. We made some brownies for the Urban Development Fund since nobody there had ever tried a brownie before (tragic!!!) and then kindly gave the other half to some really cool hard-working parents of the best baby ever...(wink, wink)

Thanks for all your help, Olivia! I look forward to many more cooking and baking nights together!

Dear Olivia,

You amaze me.

You are such an alert little baby. You like looking around when we carry you face forward. You kick, you squeal, and you were only born 74 days ago.

Although you are new to our family, it seems like you have always been with us. We know you are meant to be our daughter. I know I'm meant to be your Mommy. Daddy feels the same way too.

You hold your head up well and love to look at Mommy and Daddy. Tonight we went to the park. Boone ran around and you wanted to look around at everything. We walked and we walked until we thought you were getting cold. As soon as we got in the car you started to cry. Mommy got out with you and instantly you stopped crying.

You know what you like.

You go from giggles to making a little coughing sound, which we have learned means that you are getting frustrated/tired.

That is the way you went to bed tonight. We sang, you were on your back while Daddy and Mommy showed you some toys and talked with you and then two minutes later...you're asleep and haven't budged a bit in 45 minutes.

You're so precious and we love getting to know you.

Love, Mommy

I. Think. I. Can.

I see you there, Mr. Sock... I'm gonna get you.

I'm getting closer! If I stare hard enough maybe you will come to me?

Foiled! Looks like you will live another day, Mr. Sock.

But when I get you it will be a sweet day!

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Happy Baby

All of Olive at 10 weeks

Being a mom has changed me.

I never used to be a morning person. Never. Alarm clock went off, I'd push snooze as much as it would let me. The sun came up and I'd cover my eyes. But, no matter how much or how little sleep I have got the night before, I love waking up and seeing my precious little baby.
Ever since Olivia was born, some of my favorite time with her has been when she has just woke up. She's so fresh (except for her diaper) and she is so alert and full of smiles. Here's Little Miss Olivia and some of her sweet little pieces at 10 weeks old.

October

Olivia and Mommy went to Oregon and visited Grandpa Bartlett and Alicia.

For her first Halloween, she was a little pumpkin!
